第2天，我们离开拥挤的香港岛，坐上东铁线，穿过狮子山隧道，来到新界沙田的山谷之中。

如果说港大是“英式精英”，那这所大学就是**“中华文化与现代学术的结合体”。它是香港面积最大、风景最美、也是最具人文关怀**的大学。

这就是香港中文大学 (CUHK)。

 新亚书院的“天人合一”亭 (Pavilion of Harmony)。这是中大最著名的打卡点，也是香港绝美的景色之一。无边水池与远处的吐露港海天一色。这象征了中大最核心的精神：弘扬中国文化，追求天人合一的境界。]

学校气质与“人设”

中大的气质是**“温润的儒雅书生”**。

  • 人文精神： 中大的创校使命是“结合传统与现代，融会中国与西方”。相比于港大的西化和犀利，中大更强调人文关怀和社会责任感。这里的国学大师钱穆、余光中都曾在此任教。

Day 2: The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)

School Type: Public Research University (Famous for its Collegiate System, Humanities, and Medicine)

The “Vibe” & The Persona

CUHK’s vibe is “The Gentle, Humanistic Scholar.”

  • Humanistic Spirit: Unlike HKU’s westernized elitism, CUHK was founded to “combine tradition with modernity, and to bring together China and the West.” It emphasizes cultural heritage and social responsibility.
  • The Collegiate System: This is CUHK’s unique soul.
    • It is the only university in HK with a collegiate system (9 Colleges: New Asia, Chung Chi, United, Shaw, etc.).
    • Identity: You belong to a College first. The College determines your dorm, scholarships, general education, and social circle. E.g., New Asia focuses on Confucian culture; Chung Chi has Christian roots and is closest to the train station.

What kind of student do they prefer?

  • Well-Rounded: CUHK is supreme in Humanities/Philosophy, but its Medical School, Business School, and Electronic Engineering are also world-class.

  • Gaokao Track: For mainland students, CUHK is usually in the “Early Batch” (提前批) of the Gaokao system (unlike HKU/UST which require separate applications). You just fill it in your volunteer form.
  • English Requirement: Even though it’s the “Chinese” University, a high English score (usually 120/150+) is mandatory.

    • Food: Known as the “University of Canteens.” There are dozens of affordable cafeterias across colleges. The Lemon Pie and Mixian (rice noodles) are legendary.
    • Housing: Much easier to get a dorm here than at HKU (especially for non-locals, usually guaranteed for 3 years). Living on the mountain with sea views is a privilege.
  • Transport: University Station (East Rail Line) is right at the gate. Go South to Kowloon Tong (Shopping); Go North to Shenzhen (Border). It is the most convenient top university for visiting mainland China on weekends.

3. The Visa & Career Pathway (Gateway to Greater Bay Area)

  • Connection to Mainland: Due to proximity to Shenzhen, CUHK is pivotal in the “Greater Bay Area” tech and business ecosystem.
  • Business & Media: The Business School is elite. The School of Journalism and Communication is often called the “Cradle of Asian Journalists.”
  • IANG Visa: Graduates get the 24-month unconditional stay visa.

4. Safety and Environment

  • Safety Rating: 4.5/5 (Peaceful Sanctuary).
  • Reality: Because the campus occupies an entire mountain, it is secluded from the city bustle. It feels like a quiet academic sanctuary. Very safe.

5. Scholarship Policy

If you prefer a spacious campus with nature, value Chinese culture alongside Western education, or want to study Medicine/Media/Humanities, CUHK is a warmer, more inclusive choice than HKU. The College system will give you a strong sense of family away from home.
